MASAE has transformed our Mid-Year Meeting into a series of webinars.  Our goal is to provide association executives and their teams with information to help navigate “the new normal” during this uncertain time.  

Event planners, Hotels and Meeting Support Vendors need to work together to come to an agreement over canceled and postponed meetings during these unprecedented times. By entering all negotiations with an open mind the negotiation process has a better chance of ending fairly and successfully for all parties and lengthy and costly legal battles can be avoided. While there is no precedent for a business shutdown of this level and on a global scope we can look to 9/11, recent financial recessions and various natural disasters for lessons in how to work best with hotel partners. The relationships that took years to build must continue if all parties involved in teaming together to hold in-person meetings will rebound and be successful again.  In this session you will hear from a panel of experts that include two experienced Meeting Planners, a National Hotel Representative, a CVP Representative, a Convention Services Representative and a Contract Attorney. The panel will discuss:

  • What prompts a legitimate cancellation of the contract?
  • As a Meeting Planner/ED how do you best work with your partners (hotel, exhibit company, outside facilities, transportation companies, etc.).
  • How can we all help the live meeting industry rebound since we are all in this together?
  • What is the future of live meetings?
