"What in the World is an Association?"
This interactive session is targeted to individual new to the world of association management. Attendees should come prepared with questions and be prepared to share in a group setting.
Topic to be covered:
- What does “non-profit” mean
- Board/committee roles and responsibilities
- Working Groups/Task Forces/SIGS/Chapters – roles within an association
- Functions of an Association
- Role Associations play in society
- Membership and roles of volunteers
Speaker: Bob Waller, Jr., CAE has worked at AH for over 37 years and during that time has served as the chief staff executive for 5+ organizations and has participated in well over 350 board meetings. Bob currently is the President & CEO and external face of AH, as well as the keeper of the company culture.
In addition, Bob has served as the volunteer chief elected officer for 5 different organizations, as well as serving as a board member for 3 others.
Bob is recognized by colleagues as a leader in the association management industry, having received several industry awards such as the MASAE Points of Light Award, the NJSAE Excellence in Association Management Award, and the designation of Fellow by ASTM International. Bob won the Customer Service CEO of the Year award from the Customer Service Institute of America. In 2023 the AMC Institute honored Bob with their highest award and bestowed the Glen Bostrom lifetime achievement award for his more than 35 years of service to the industry.
Bob is a past president of the AMC Institute, New Jersey Society of Association Executives (NJSAE – Now MASAE), and the International Consumer Products Safety Organization (ICPSO). He has served as a board member and officer for many area non-profits and children’s charities, such as Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) and First-Candle.
Bob spends as much free time as possible restoring antique cars.
